DAY 1 CAIRNS - CAPE YORK (LD)

We meet at your Cairns accommodation and transfer you to your 7.00am flight for Bamaga. On arrival meet fellow passengers already with the 14 day tour and after a spot of sightseeing we drive to the top of Australia and enjoy a beautiful walk to the actual tip. After a photographic session we meander our way back through woodlands and rainforest to our picturesque camp overlooking Torres Strait. (Toilets and Showers)

Those who wish may travel by launch to Thursday Island (own expense), enjoy a flight over Torres Strait, go fishing off the Seisia wharf or perhaps just have a lazy day sun baking on the beach. (Toilets and Showers)

DAY 3 CAPE YORK - TWIN FALLS (BLD)

This morning we head to Twin Falls on the magnificent Elliot River. After a brief stop in Bamaga and a ferry ride over the mighty Jardine River, we tackle some of the Old Telegraph Track with its steep creek crossings to get into our camp at Twin Falls. (Toilet & Swim)

This uniquely beautiful area is a very special part of Cape York. We spend the day going for a hike, swimming, as well as relaxing and enjoying the unbelievably spectacular series of waterfalls including the Elliot, Twin and Indian Head Falls. (Toilet & Swim)

DAY 5 TWIN FALLS - BRAMWELL STATION (BLD)

Travel through the unusual Heathlands Reserve and pause at Captain Billy Landing. Tonight’s camp is on Bramwell Cattle Station, the most northerly working cattle property in the country, where true bush hospitality abounds. (Toilet & Shower)

We depart early, drive on better roads, arriving around lunchtime in Weipa. This afternoon relax with time to shop, or catch up on laundry chores at the amenities, a swimming pool is available, a half day (4 hours) fishing and sightseeing tour is also available if prebooked before arrival. DAY 7 WEIPA - COEN (BLD)

A Bauxite Mine and town tour is available (own expense). Then we continue our journey south for the country atmosphere at Coen. This evening there is a chance to meet some of Coen’s colourful characters in the Sexchange Hotel, the social hub of the town. (Toilets & Showers).

DAY 8 COEN - NORMANBY RIVER (BLD)

Over the Bamboo Range, we pause at Musgrave, then turn east and enter the vast expanse of Lakefield National Park, Ibis, Bustards, Jabirus, Brolgas, and waterfowl are just some of the 200 odd species that inhabit this park. We may also see Pigs and Crocodiles or Dingoes. Our camp is by Normanby River within this National Park. (Toilet & Showers)

DAY 9 NORMANDY RIVER - COOKTOWN (BL)

We explore more of the Park area passing New Laura Ranger Station and visiting the historic Old Laura Homestead restored some years ago and conveys some of the hardships endured by our pioneers. We arrive at Cooktown in time to visit the James Cook Historical Museum (own expense). Overnight in a conventional campground. This evening we dine out, a break from camp cooking. DAY 10 COOKTOWN - CAIRNS (BL)

After visiting Grassy Hill and viewing some of the town’s landmarks, the mysterious Black Mountain is our next stop. See the Lions Den Pub, then if weather permits, we venture into the dense mountainous rainforest of Cedar Bay and Cape Tribulation National Park, visit the Bloomfield Falls, cross the Bloomfield River and tackle the notorious Bloomfield Track. The magnificence of Cape Tribulation is a highlight of our last day, onto the Daintree Ferry before fond farewells as alas, our adventure has come to an end in Cairns at approx. 6.00pm.
