DAY 1 CAIRNS -  CAPE YORK (LD)

We meet at your Cairns accommodation and transfer you to your 7.00 am flight to Bamaga. Meet fellow passengers already with the tour and after a spot of sightseeing we drive to the top of Australia and celebrate our achievements. After a photographic session we meander our way back through woodlands and rainforest to our picturesque camp overlooking Torres Strait. (Toilets and Showers)

DAY 2 CAPE YORK (BD)

Today there is an option of a day tour to Thursday Island and Horn Island (own expense). A bus tour is also available on the islands. Another option on this day are fishing provided it had been pre-booked before the tour departure date. Alternatively just relax around camp. (Toilets and Showers)

DAY 3 CAPE YORK - TWIN FALLS (BLD)

Our southward journey begins as we travel via Bamaga and ferry the Jardine River. Rough, corrugated roads lead us to our camp at Twin Falls. Here we explore, swim, relax and enjoy the unbelievably spectacular series of waterfalls on the Elliot River including Twin and Indian Head Falls. (Toilet & Swim)

DAY 4 TWIN FALLS - BRAMWELL STATION (BLD)

The unusual countryside of Heathland Reserve with its low scrub and contrasting termite mounds feature as we make our way to Bramwell Cattle Station and the true bush hospitality of the redoubtable Wendy, owner of this 520 square mile property. (Toilet & Shower)

DAY 5 BRAMWELL STATION - WEIPA (BLD)

We depart early, drive on better roads and arrive in Weipa around lunchtime. This afternoon there is ample time to shop in air-conditioned comfort or catch up on some chores at the Laundromat. (Toilets & Showers)

DAY 6 WEIPA - COEN (BLD)

A town and lifestyle tour including the mining areas (own cost) is recommended this morning before we continue our journey and make camp in Coen. An opportunity to meet the colourful locals this evening in the local Exchange Hotel where the atmosphere is truly ‘country? (Toilets & Showers).

DAY 7 COEN - NORMANBY RIVER (BLD)

We travel south until Musgrave then turn east and begin experiencing Lakefield National Park with its extensive wildlife such as, Ibis, Bustards, Jabirus, Brolgas, Pigs and Crocodiles. Camp overnight by the Normanby River within this National Park. ( Toilet & Cool Showers)

DAY 8 NORMANBY RIVER - COOKTOWN (BLD)

We explore more of the Park area passing New Laura Ranger Station and visit the historic Old Laura Homestead then drive the corrugated Battlecamp Road and drop down to fertile farming country and arrive in Cooktown. A pleasant break from camp cooking as we all dine out this evening. (Toilets & Showers)

DAY 9 COOKTOWN - CAIRNS (BL)

After visiting Grassy Hill and some of the towns landmarks we visit the notorious Black Mountain area and historic Lions Den Pub. If weather permits we venture into the dense mountainous rainforest of Cedar Bay and Cape Tribulation National Park, cross the Bloomfield River and tackle the steep Bloomfield Track. We visit Cape Tribulation, onto the Daintree Ferry and arrive in Cairns at approx. 6.00pm. It’s farewell to new found friends.
