DAY 1 CAIRNS - HORN ISLAND (LD)

Pre- arranged pick-up from your accommodation for mid morning flight to Horn Island. On arrival on you will be met by a representative from the Gateway Torres Strait Resort. Lunch included followed by a bus tour of the Island and Museum. Overnight accommodation is on Horn Island.

DAY 2 THURSDAY ISLAND - PUNSAND BAY (BD)

Ride the morning ferry to Thursday Island for a conducted bus tour ofthis historic Island. Mid afternoon by inter island ferry cruise viaPrince Of Wales and Possession Islands to Punsand Bay Private Reserve,your base camp for the next 2 nights.

DAY 3 CAPE YORK - SOMERSET (BLD)

Stand at "The Tip", and back in the legends, folk lore, tall tales andtrue with a visit to Somerset (road conditions permitting). Savour the"once in a lifetime" treat, to stand on the very top of Australia,legendary Cape York itself. Retrace the footsteps of our earlyexplorer/settlers, where every ruin and relic is steeped in romanticfolk lore and historic fact.

DAY 4 CAPE YORK - TWIN FALLS (BLD)

Our exciting overland adventure starts today. Across the mighty JardineRiver, through the wilderness of forests and heath to Twin Falls on theElliot River and a cooling dip in the rapids and waterfalls beforesetting up camp in this unique spot.

DAY 5 TELEGRAPH TRACK -WENLOCK RIVER (BLD)

An exciting day negotiating river crossings and bush tracks whileabsorbing the unfamiliar landscape of eucalyptus scrub, heathlands,plains and exotic zamia forests. Camp on the Wenlock River at MoretonTelegraph Station.

DAY 6 WEIPA (BLD)

Travel south to Batavia Downs Station then detour west to the Gulf ofCarpentaria through huge cattle runs and Aboriginal tribal lands to thebauxite mining town of Weipa.

DAY 7 ARCHER RIVER (BLD)

In the cool of the early morning, a optional Weipa Mine Tour (owncost). A veritable "Oasis in the Wilderness" and providing furthercontrast to your experience of this last frontier. Across rollingPiccaninny Plains and on to our overnight stop at the Archer River.

DAY 8 COEN - MUSGRAVE - LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK (BLD)

Historic interludes as we visit the once vibrant gold rush town of Coenand the last old Telegraph Station, Musgrave. East towards the CoralSea to arrive at the massive wildlife haven, Lakefield National Park.

DAY 9 COOKTOWN (BD)

Past pioneer homesteads, with a pause for photos at Old LauraHomestead, along trackers first blazed by gold crazed fortune hunters,over the stark Battlecamp Range to reach Cooktown. A day of interestand enjoyment as we visit Cook's landing place, Grassy Hill Lookout,the century old museum, or shop for souvenirs in original colonial erashops. Overnight Cooktown area.

DAY 10 DAINTREE RAINFORESTS - CAIRNS (BL)

Over the jungle shrouded heights of the Bloomfield Track to enter themajestic expanse of the World Heritage Rainforest. Jungle green heightsdescend to the very edge of the Great Barrier Reef with views ofdeserted beaches and fringing coral. Across the Daintree River and viathe scenic beaches to arrive at your Cairns accommodation.
