DAY 1 CAIRNS - COOKTOWN (LD)

After pick ups around 7.00am we travel the scenic coastline past Port Douglas and Mossman to reach the Daintree - Cape Tribulation National Park area. If weather permits we tackle the steep “Bloomfield Track?and cross the Bloomfield River then into the dense mountainous rainforests of Cedar Bay ( Wet conditions dictate use of the alternative ‘Inland? road). A short visit to the historic Lions Den Pub, we pause at Black Mountain then on to historic Cooktown. We visit Grassy Hill and visit some of the town’s landmarks. (Toilets & Showers)

Today we travel west via Battlecamp Road through escarpment country noted for gold rush pioneering hardships entwined with tales of infamy. We stop at Old Laura Homestead for a cool drink before continuing on our way through Lakefield National Park with its prolific wildlife including Ibis, Bustards, Jabirus, Brolgas, Pigs and Crocodiles. This evening we camp at Normanby River. (Toilet & Cool Showers)

DAY 3 LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK - COEN (BLD)

We continue to travel through the entire length of this 1.6 Million acre National Park visiting numerous water holes with an abundance of wildlife and diverse vegetation and arrive at Musgrave for a short break before heading on to camp at the characteristic town of Coen. We may meet some colourful locals in the hotel this evening. (Toilets & Showers)

We depart early and arrive around lunchtime at Weipa. Here there is a chance to catch up on some washing at the Laundromat and a little shopping. An afternoon fishing trip is available for those who pre-booked before our tour departure date at own expense. (Toilets & Showers)

DAY 5 WEIPA - BRAMWELL STATION (BLD)

A town and lifestyle tour including the Bauxite mine area is recommended this morning. After lunch we drive across productive cattle country and spend the night at the hospitable Bramwell Cattle Station. (Toilet & Swim)

Four wheel drive begins in earnest as we cross creeks, washouts and ditches. We travel through spectacular Heathland Reserve with its low scrub country and monster termite mounds to arrive at Twin Falls, the absolute jewel in our Cape York crown. Here we explore, swim, relax and enjoy the exquisitely beautiful series of waterfalls on the Elliot river including Twin and Indian Head Falls. (Toilet & Swim)

DAY 7 TWIN FALLS - LOYALTY BEACH BASE CAMP (BLD)

Today we traverse more rough roads and tracks, cross the Jardine River by old world cable ferry then travel on through the township of Bamaga to our picturesque base camp overlooking Torres Strait. (Toilets & Showers)

There is an option today of a day tour to Thursday Island and also Horn Island - own expense, an excellent bus tour is available on the islands. For passengers who have pre-booked before the tour departure date the other option is a fishing trip (own cost), or alternatively, just relax on the beach near base camp. (Toilets and Showers)

DAY 9 CAPE YORK (BLD)

After a short sleep in, we drive to the top of Australia and enjoy the walk out to the very end of the peninsula. After celebrations and photographs we meander through other historical areas before returning to our camp overlooking the Torres Strait at Loyalty Beach.

Today it’s “all aboard?the working coastal freighter MV Pacific Discoverer. Watch the final loading of vehicles and returning containers bound for Cairns. Relax and enjoy the voyage as the ship cruises away from Seisia Jetty and heads south through the azure tropical waters of the Coral Sea meandering through the Great Barrier Reef. transfers from the ship back to your Cairns accommodation are arranged to finish your holiday of a lifetime.
