9 DAY CAPE YORK CAMPING SAFARI (Fly/Drive)

This lovely 9 day trip will taken in all the "Must See" places in Cape York including Thursday Island and some very refreshing waterfalls. Add Cooktown and some isolated camping spots and you will be guaranteed of a trip that will give you life long memories.

DAY 1 CAIRNS -  CAPE YORK (LD)

After being collected from your Cairns accommodation you will board a scenic flight from Cairns to Cape York. Gain an insight into Island life before traveling by inter island ferry to the mainland via Thursday Island. Ending the day on our beach front Cape York camp at Loyalty Beach.

DAY 2 CAPE YORK (BLD)

Celebrate as you stand on the Northern tip of the Cape York Peninsular, pass through dense rainforest and stroll along deserted beaches on the way to the top.

DAY 3 BAMAGA - TWIN FALLS (BLD)

Our southward journey begins as we travel via Bamaga and ferry the Jardine River. Rough, corrugated roads lead us to our camp at Twin Falls. Here we explore, swim, relax and enjoy the unbelievably spectacular series of waterfalls on the Elliot River.

DAY 4 TWIN FALLS - BRAMWELL STATION (BLD)

Traveling south you will see the unusual countryside of Heathlands Reserve with its low scrub and contrasting termite mounds. After a pause at Captain Billy Landing we end up at Bramwell Station. Meet Wendy, the owner of this 520 square mile Bramwell Cattle Station and experience true bush hospitality.

DAY 5 BRAMWELL STATION - WEIPA (BLD)

We depart early, drive on better roads and arrive in Weipa around lunchtime. This afternoon there is ample time to shop in air-conditioned comfort or catch up on some chores at the Laundromat.

DAY 6 COEN - MUSGRAVE STATION (BLD)

A town and lifestyle tour including the mining areas (own cost) is recommended this morning before we continue our journey south. Visit the "Tips" Peninsula Quarantine station and Coen on route to our camp at Musgrave Station

DAY 7 MUSGRAVE STATION - LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK (BLD)

Once we leave Musgrave then the tour will turn east and begin experiencing Lakefield National Park with its extensive wildlife such as, Ibis, Bustards, Jabirus, Brolgas, Pigs and Crocodiles. Camp overnight by the Normanby River within this National Park.

DAY 8 LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK - COOKTOWN (BL)

We explore more of the Park area passing New Laura Ranger Station and visit the historic Old Laura Homestead then drive the corrugated Battlecamp Road and drop down to fertile farming country and arrive in Cooktown. A pleasant break from camp cooking as we all dine out this evening.

DAY 9 COOKTOWN - CAIRNS (BL)

After visiting Grassy Hill and some of the towns landmarks we visit the notorious Black Mountain area and historic Lions Den Pub. If weather permits we venture into the dense mountainous rainforest of Cedar Bay and Cape Tribulation National Park, cross the Bloomfield River and tackle the steep Bloomfield Track. We visit Cape Tribulation, onto the Daintree Ferry and arrive Cairns in the late afternoon where you will be dropped off at your Cairns accommodation.
