DAY 1 CAIRNS - COOKTOWN (LD)

After picking you up at your Cairns CBD accommodation or our selected Caravan Parks, your adventure begins. Travel north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway, through the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Then making our way along the jungle shrouded Bloomfield Track, stopping off at the unique Lion's Den Hotel, and the mysterious Black Mountain, arriving at the old gold port of Cooktown. Visit Captain Cooks Landing, and the Grassy Hill Lookout. Overnight at Cooktown. (ensuite facilities)

 

DAY 2 COOKTOWN - LAKEFIELD - MUSGRAVE (BLD)


Heading west into the outback, we travel over the legendary Battle Camp Range to the Old Laura Homestead and Lakefield National Park. An amalgamation of 3 huge cattle stations, now a haven for the many birds and animals native to this area. Lagoons, billabongs, and wide river lakes are home to both fresh and saltwater crocodiles. The afternoon finds us arriving at the old Musgrave telegraph station, your accommodation for the night. (share facilities)

 

DAY 3 MUSGRAVE - COEN - WEIPA (BLD)


After a leisurely morning, we continue north stopping off at the historic frontier gold town of Coen and the picturesque Archer River, before making our way to the bauxite-mining town of Weipa for our overnight stay. (ensuite facilities)

 

DAY 4 WEIPA - WENLOCK RIVER - BRAMWELL STATION (BD)


This morning you may wish to take an informative tour of the Weipa mining operation (own expense) or just relax by the pool. After lunch, we head for our overnight stay at a true blue Aussie cattle station, Bramwell Station. (share facilities)

 

DAY 5 BRAMWELL STATION - FRUIT BAT FALLS - CAPE YORK (BLD)


After an early start, we head north traveling along part of the Old Telegraph Track to arrive at Fruit Bat Falls for lunch. Relax, swim, and enjoy this unique area with its enchanting waterfalls and rock pools. Then northwards across the Jardine River, to arrive at Cape York! We will be staying at Seisia. Seisia is ideally located for our next few days, being in walking distance from the Seisia Wharf, the departure point for the ferry to Thursday Island and a famous fishing spot. Cottage accommodation at Seisia Holiday Park with ensuite facilities.

 

DAY 6 CAPE YORK - SOMERSET (BLD)


An unforgettable day! Stand at the very top of mainland Australia. We visit Somerset, once the home of the legendary Jardine family and lunch on palm fringed Anchorage Beach which overlooks the Albany Passage. A walk on the beach completes your day before returning to your overnight accommodation.

 

DAY 7 CAPE YORK - THURSDAY ISLAND - CAIRNS (B)


An early morning departure as we cruise through island studded straits to explore our northern community, Thursday Island. Here you will be taken on a informative guided bus tour of the island and its picturesque Harbour, once home to the romantic pearl lugger fleet. Then board your plane at Horn Island for a scenic flight back to Cairns. Arriving late afternoon in Cairns, your tour ends with a drop off at your Cairns CBD accommodation or our selected Caravan Parks.

 

OPTIONAL EXTRA 8th DAY GIVING YOU TIME TO VISIT HORN ISLAND FOR $260 per person


Horn Island is famous for its strategic importance during the Second World War and is part of Australias history. If you are interested in the significance Horn Island played during the war then we suggest you consider this extra day as you will be taken on a one hour bus tour of the island and can have unlimited access to the Horn Island WWII Museum on Horn Island. The guided bus tour takes you to the old air strip, gun turrets, ammunition storage areas and hidden plane parking areas that were used by the troops during WWII. The Horn Island Museum has a collection of WWII information plus the local history of the area including its wonderful Pearling days. Please note you will need to pay for your own transport from the Cairns airport back to your accommodation if you take the extra 8th day. A taxi will cost approximately $25 from the Cairns airport to most of Cairns accommodation property's.
