DAY 1 CARGO BOAT to CAPE YORK (D)


After a mid-day pick from your Cairns accommodation you will join other travelers for your trip up the coast of Australia on the M.V. Trinity Bay Cargo Boat. Watch the final loading of fuel, building materials and supplies on to the vessel, then relax and enjoy cruising out of Cairns Harbour and heading north carrying all the requirements for the remote communities.

 

DAY 2 CARGO BOAT to CAPE YORK (BLD)


Enjoying the views throughout the day and company of the crew of this working vessel.

 

DAY 3 HORN ISLAND AND THURSDAY ISLAND (BLD)


“Barge Day”. The focus of all attention today is the wharves on Thursday & Horn Islands as the M.V. Trinity Bay unloads its cargo of fuel, building materials, indeed everything needed by these remote island communities. In the morning the cargo boat ties up at the Horn Island wharf and later this afternoon the cargo boat will move and tie up at the Thursday Island wharf. Time is available in the morning to explore Horn Island only if you are taking the Island tour (conducted bus tour at own cost) time is available in the afternoon to self explore legendary Thursday Island (conducted bus tour at own cost).

 

DAY 4 SEISIA - LOYALTY BEACH (BLD)


The M.V. Trinity Bay will arrive on the mainland of Australia this morning for another “barge day” at the Seisia wharf, the sea port for Bamaga’s five aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Passengers will disembark the cargo boat this morning and relocate to our base camp at Loyalty Beach for a relaxing afternoon and sunset drinks.

 

DAY 5 CAPE YORK (BLD)


Celebrate as you stand on the Northern tip of Australia - the Cape York Peninsular. On the way to "The Tip" you will pass through dense rainforest and strolling along deserted beaches.

 

DAY 6 CAPE YORK - TWIN FALLS (BLD)


Its time to head South today and you will travel via Bamaga to the Jardine River which we cross by ferry. After traversing part of the old Telegraph Track the tour will arrive at the cool waters of Twin Falls. Here you take can a walk, swim, relax or enjoy the unbelievably spectacular series of this waterfall system of the Elliott, Twin and Indian Head Falls river system.

 

DAY 7 TWIN FALLS - BRAMWELL CATTLE STATION (BLD)


The unusual countryside of Heathland Reserve with its low scrub and contrasting termite mounds feature as we make our way to Bramwell Cattle Station and the true bush hospitality of the owner Wendy. Bramwell Station is one of the largest cattle station on The Cape and covers nearly 1000 square kilometers.

 

DAY 8 BRAMWELL STATION - WEIPA (BLD)


We depart early, drive good roads and arrive around lunch time at Weipa. This afternoon there is ample time to shop, catch up on some chores, fish or take the Weipa Bauxite Mine and Town Bus tour (optional extra cost).

 

DAY 9 WEIPA - COEN - OLD MUSGRAVE TELEGRAPH STATION (BLD)


Stop off today at the Peninsula Quarantine Station for an insight into the Quarantine needs of The Cape. Sit back and enjoy the outback as we travel through Coen en route to our overnight camp at Old Musgrave Telegraph Station.


DAY 10 OLD MUSGRAVE TELEGRAPH STATION - LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK (BLD)


We travel south from Musgrave then turn east and start experiencing Lakefield National Park with its tremendous wildlife such as, Ibis, Bustards, Jabirus, Brolgas, Pigs and Crocodiles. Camp overnight by the Normanby River within the Lakefield National Park.

DAY 11 LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK - COOKTOWN (BL)


We explore more of the Lakefield National Park area passing New Laura Ranger Station and visit the historic Old Laura Homestead then drive the corrugated Battlecamp Road. Watch the area change as we drop down to fertile farming country and arrive in Cooktown. This afternoon is free to take in the sights of Cooktown and tonight we have a pleasant break from camp cooking as we all dine out.

 

DAY 12 COOKTOWN - CAPE TRIBULATION - CAIRNS (BL)


Enjoy an early morning view Cooktown from Grassy Hill, then onto the Black Mountains and stop by at the Lions Den Pub. If track conditions permit venture onto the notorious Bloomfield track visiting Bloomfield falls and Cape Tribulation before returning to Cairns in the late afternoon where your tour ends with a drop off at your Cairns accommodation.
