DAY 1 CAIRNS - "M.V. TRINITY BAY" (D)

After a mid day pick up from your Cairns accommodation, you will board the M.V. Trinity Bay. At 80 metres and over 3000 tonnes the M.V. Trinity Bay is the largest cargo vessel servicing the Straits and the only one to carry passengers.

DAY 2 CARGO BOAT to CAPE YORK (BLD)

Total relaxation as you enjoy the company of the crew and new shop board companions.

DAY 3 THURSDAY ISLAND - HORN ISLAND (BLD)

"Barge Day". The focus of all attention today are the wharves on Thursday & Horn Islands, as the M.V. Trinity Bay disgorges its cargo of fuel, building materials, indeed everything needed by these remote island communities. Time to explore legendary Thursday Island and perhaps take a conducted bus tour (own cost).

DAY 4 SEISIA - BAMAGA - PUNSAND BAY (BLD)

Another "barge day" but at Seisia wharf, the sea port for Bamaga's five aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A short stop at Seisia Islander settlement before proceeding to our accommodation for the next 2 nights accommodation at Punsand Bay Safari Lodge in a Beachfront Cabin Tent with its own ensuite facilities.

DAY 5 CAPE YORK - SOMERSET (BLD)

A day of interest and outdoor enjoyment. An early morning walk to "The Tip", the most northerly point of our continent. A tour to Albany Passage with a visit to historic Somerset, the once mooted "Singapore of the Pacific" (road conditions permitting) before returning to your overnight accommodation at Punsand Bay.

DAY 6 JARDINE RIVER - FRUIT BAT FALLS - OLD MORETON TELEGRAPH STATION (BLD)

Anticipation and excitement as we commence our overland trek. Retracing the paths of our earliest overlanders, we cross the Jardine River to Fruitbat Falls, a Mecca for "off road" travelers. Enjoy a refreshing swim and lunch before we continue negotiating river crossings and bush tracks to arrive at Old Moreton Telegraph Station, on the banks of the Wenlock River. Tonight's accommodation at Moreton Station in "Tent Cabins" which have shared bathroom facilities. The "Tent Cabins" are twin share fully screened tents with beds, linen, lights, gas powered hot showers, flushing toilets and an outdoor covered dining area.

DAY 7 WEIPA (BLD)

Time for a guided nature walk along this lightly forested waterway before we cross the sandy Wenlock River. Travel south to Batavia Downs Station then detour west to the Gulf of Carpentaria through huge cattle runs and Aboriginal tribal lands to the bauxite mining town of Weipa. A veritable "Oasis in the wilderness" and providing further contrast to your experience of this last frontier. This afternoon an optional Weipa Mine Tour (own cost) is available and your overnight accommodation is at the Heritage Resort which has ensuite facilities.

DAY 8 ARCHER RIVER - COEN - OLD MUSGRAVE TELEGRAPH STATION (BLD)

Across rolling Piccaninny Plains, a lunch stop at the Archer River and then via historic Coen to arrive at Old Musgrave Telegraph Station, which is over 100 years old. Tonight's accommodation has shared bathroom facilities.

DAY 9 LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK - COOKTOWN (BLD)

We head East towards Princess Charlotte Bay and enter the massive bird and animal sanctuary of Lakefield National Park. The waterfowl teem in lily fringed billabongs and an opportunity to safely view crocodiles in their natural habitat. Travel over the legendary Battle Camp Range to historical Cooktown. An eventful afternoon sightseeing and viewing significant landmarks and sites so important to all Australians. Accommodation tonight in Cooktown is at the Sea View motel with ensuite facilities.

DAY 10 BLOOMFIELD TRACK - CAPE TRIBULATION - CAIRNS (BL)

We cross the wide Bloomfield River marks the start of our drive over the controversial “Bloomfield Track”. Jungle green heights descend to the very edge of the Great Barrier Reef, with tantalizing glimpses of deserted beaches and fringing coral. Through the famous World Heritage Rainforest across the Daintree River, then travel via the scenic sea road to Cairns. Your tour ends with many fond memories and a drop off at your Cairns accommodation late in the afternoon.
